Hello! Sarah here from Just The Bees Knees. I’m back to share another inspiring mood board with you this month! I love creating mood boards based on popular decor styles, such as Modern Coastal and Rustic glam. This month I’m here to talk about a trend that mixes two of my favorite design styles: Modern + Farmhouse.
Confession time; I used to hate white interiors. Ack! I said it! But over time, they have slowly grown on me to the point that I now have a love affair with white walls and am this close to repainting my house all white. (Shhh….don’t tell my husband!) I also have a love affair with clean lines….and a good piece of worn wood furniture. Luckily Modern Farmhouse is a style where the two can marry and live happily ever after. Lets take a look at some blissful modern farmhouse interiors and then chat about what they all have in common.
So dreamy!! I could easily live in many of these places!! Lets talk about what elements are key to achieving the Modern Farmhouse look.
How to Decorate in Modern Farmhouse Style
- White background with Neutral accents. Most Modern Farmhouse interiors rely on a white background , and accent with neutrals such as gray, and muted blue and green. Why so much white?! It’s the best color option to make the next element stand out.
- Weathered Wood. The farmhouse element in the Modern Farmhouse look. It doesn’t matter the shade of wood, it just has to look a bit worn. The wood also brings in warmth and texture to contrast against the white background for the perfect balance.
- Clean, modern lines. You won’t find any Rococo furniture in this type of home! All pieces have sleek, clean lines, even the antiques.
- Metal accents. A must in this style. Galvanized metal, steel, iron, brass, you name it, there just has to be metal somewhere!
One of my favorite places to achieve this look is in the kitchen , so it was an easy decision on which room I would base my mood board on! I chose elements to accent your kitchen based on the guidelines above, and I’m smitten!
I just love love LOVE the mix of Mid Century Modern pieces with farmhouse elements. So, what do you think of the Modern Farmhouse style?! What are some of your favorite elements?!
Thanks again to Cassity and the Remodelaholic crew for having me here today! I’d love for you to pop on over to my blog and have a look around.
See ya next month!
xo Sarah
